Ah yes, it is that time of year again. As we put away our jack-o-lanterns and scary costumes, we wake up to Christmas music on the radio in November. Somehow, corporate America makes Christmas preparation happen over night (Thanksgiving is so whatevers apparently). In any case, the holidays are coming and YOU don’t want to be left out on the holiday cheer!
Let’s Think Back To When We Were Kids…
when we got cool new toys to play with. Some of us weren’t quite as privileged, but instead, we were able to be thankful for the gift of dance in our lives! Whether we’ve received material items or used “Material Girl” for an impromptu dance routine, we’ve been blessed with dance, a gift that has kept us going and has created this amazing community for us to live and breathe and dance and werk.
Brotherhood OTP has been hit with the holiday feelz and is beginning to collect toys from the dance community to donate to local hospitals for the children! So don’t be a Grinch or a Scrooge; instead of buying Starbucks for a few days, spend those dollars on a new toy to donate!
The dance community is so great in that it isn’t just a group of dancers talking about dance; the community can become more and do more for others. Share your fortunes with those less fortunate, and remember what your “why” is when you dance. Dance may have kept you going in the darkest days, and it provided you with a light at the end of the tunnel. A small toy can provide this type of joy to a child at a hospital, so share the wealth (figuratively and literally).
How You Can Help
Steezy is teaming up with Brotherhood OTP and is also collecting toys THIS WEEKEND at Prelude NorCal and Maxt Out Dance Competition! For all of our NorCal dancers, you can swing by the Steezy photobooth on Saturday at Prelude NorCal and drop off an unopened toy, and for our SoCal dancers, Steezy will be at Maxt Out on Sunday as well!
A little goes a long way, so don’t miss out on an opportunity to make a child’s day a little brighter!
